Understanding Bulk Billed Physiotherapy: What You Need to Know

Bulk Billed Physiotherapy refers to a service where the clinic charges the Medicare schedule fee, allowing patients to receive treatment with no out-of-pocket expenses. This can be a significant financial relief for those requiring physiotherapy services, as it eliminates direct costs.

However, not all physiotherapy clinics offer bulk billing, and eligibility criteria may apply. Some clinics may charge a gap fee, which means patients will need to pay the difference between the Medicare schedule fee and the physiotherapist’s standard fee. The gap amount can vary depending on the provider and the nature of the treatment.

If you are considering physiotherapy, it is important to inquire about the clinic’s billing practices in advance to understand any potential costs. Below, we explore the key advantages and considerations of Bulk Billed Physiotherapy to help you make an informed decision.
